Demo Update v 0.2.0 - Release Notes
After a couple months off recovering from injury, I have been back in the lab for the last month trying to get back on schedule. So, this is a huge update for the game, with the focus on creating the groundwork on new features and ideas for the game moving forward. I was working on it slowly even while injured so some changes may not be listed below as its been months, I will update if I remember any I missed.
Updates and Features in Chambers of the Lost ver 0.2.0
- Item Crafting is now implemented. The selection of recipes is basic. However, it will be a big focus in future updates to increase the resource items and recipes available in the game, but this now allows the possibility of crafting much needed potions and food, making finding crafting items more important. As of now, all crafting can be done from the Menu under Crafting, but soon there will be stations to craft various categories (Fire for Cooking, Workbench for Crafting, Scribes Desk for Scrolls, Alchemy Table for Potions, etc.)
- Leather Scraps now can be turned in to the Dice NPC near Maev's Camp, each scrap will roll a 20 sided dice with a variety of prizes based on the number you roll.
- New Stress System to manage in addition to the Hunger and Thirst. Items and Talents have been created to cure stress, much like food does hunger and water does thirst. Stress will be lowered by getting attacked, negative npc interactions, some items may lower your stress meter as well. New ways to raise and lower stress will be a focus of future updates.
- New Talent "Calm Mind" will recover your Stress Meter, can only be used during battle. Books and Alcohol found or purchased can recover stress outside of battle.
- A radar can be received from Zedd, at Maev's Camp, who will ask you to scavenge items and hunt npcs for him, this radar is a compass that will show most of items, chests, quests and forage in the area.
- Icons for most points of interest have been added to the Radar compass. The icons will disappear once the player opens the chest, uses the item, completes the npcs quest, etc.
- Mushrooms in the wild have been increased and now have a mini game attached, if failed the mushrooms will crumble and you will not get any mushrooms.
- Random Chests now have over 300 possible outcomes and have been fixed on all maps.
- Breakable Pots and Crates now have randomized outcomes of the amount of gold you receive, which makes make the playthroughs more unique along with random chests. The ability to buy items and craft items should counter any unfortunate luck a player might have in the RNG of the chests. Sell the items you don't want for items you can use to craft the ones you do.
- Enemies have been altered for balancing, based on previous playtest results. Attack patterns and stats have been changed for several enemies.
- The intro of the game has been revamped slightly, to allow the player to choose to hear about the chambers or skip it. Another which introduces a 2nd npc to the intro, which will guide you to Maev's Camp, which is one of the first places you are asked to travel.
- The hero faces has been changed to still look like the character but change the remaining RTP assets in the playtest. The characters will be changed still soon, but until then at least it wont be the RTP face.
- Steps for random encounters have been slightly raised, making random encounters a little bit less frequent.
- NPC enemies on map are being introduced, right now slimes can be found near water sources, and giant rats can be found all over. They respawn over time and can be hunted for important crafting resources and quest quotas. In the future these creatures will be increased, a skill or item will be created to tame them to add them to your party and it will replace the current NPC that sells pets.
- While it's not yet ready to be included until its fully functional, the Prize Arena is getting extremely close and should be in the v0.2.1 update.
